Tahoe... again

Image
I'm backkkkkk! My second home really cannot get enough of me. Duane and I drove up to the family cabin Friday afternoon to hang out before the rest of the fam came Saturday afternoon. Before everyone got there, we went for a great run along the Truckee River and relaxed on the beach. Sunday was the best day. Duane's family bought a boat a while back and rented a buoy for half a season on the lake. Today was the first day his dad got to take it out on the lake. So right after breakfast, Duane, Carrie, Papa, Allan and I went out of the boat for some tubing. We even thought it was a good idea to all get on the tube and ride it at the same time... Around lunch time, Kellie and great uncle John met us a the doc and joined us for the afternoon. We went over to Chambers for a drink and then had a picnic lunch on the water.  riding boats and drinking is hard Overall, it was a great weekend! Fun fact: Lake Tahoe is the second deepest lake in North Ame...

A Weekend Around The Bay

Image
This was a packed weekend of awesomeness. Friday we went over to the city to hangout with Chrissy and Max for a double date. Chrissy and I went for a hike to Bernal Hill and slid down some super fast slides on the way there, loved it! When Duane got to SF from work, we walked down to El Techo in the Mission for some rooftop drinks. Can't beat a clear evening in SF After, we walked over to Little Baobab for Senegalese food. One of my favorite places in SF. Lastly to close the evening after a wine bar, we did some indoor put put golf at Urban Putt. So much fun and super unique. Not your typical putt putt Sunday morning Duane and I hit the pavement and ran 7 miles to train for our half marathons. Wasn't my fastest day, but I did it. After some lounging, we drove over to Alameda on the old Navy/Air Force base to take a tour of St. George Spirits. Such a great view of the city "Emotional support begins here" haha How you mak...

Tahoe, My Second Home

Image
I am starting to think that Tahoe is my weekend home. Between spending every other weekend there skiing during the winter, it seems as though I am going up more often than not in the summer. Two weekends ago I went to the Howard Family cabin with Duane's mom (Kellie) and sister (Carrie) and my mom (Gisela) for a girls getaway weekend. It was full of lounging, swimming in the lake, paddle boarding, sleeping and cucumber vodka (no judging, it is delightfully refreshing). This last weekend I was up again for another girls trip, but this time it was with my my two close friends, Chrissy and Katie. This time we went to Katie's cabin also on West Shore, about 15 minutes further south on highway 89 than the Howard cabin. We watched crazy YouTube videos, rafted down the Truckee River, drank River Rum Punches ++ at River Ranch, lounged in the spa, hiked, got scared sh*tless by an unknown attack on the house via loud noises, enjoyed delicious free pizza and relaxed. Such a...

Duane's 30th at Lake Tahoe

Image
Since Duane and I are officially legit (aka married), we were given keys to the family cabin on west lake in Tahoe. With Duane's big 3-0 coming up next week, he decided to kick off the celebration with some good friends up at the cabin BBQing, drinking, swimming in the lake and playing games. Such a nice get away weekend! We attempted to paddle board, but it was too windy Someone got dunked Beach party!!  One the last night it was cold enough to have a fire. Love having fires at the cabin. This little one is already all about the beer. Bad beer, but hey! you have to start somewhere! Some mommy loves Happy 30th birthday Duane!

You Better Belize-it

As Duane and I were planning our wedding and figuring out details, we started looking for a place to take our honeymoon. In true Sarah from, I found the place we would take our honeymoon before the actual site for our wedding. We (I) had decided on Belize, specifically, Hamanasi Adventure and Dive Resort located in Hopkins, for 10 days 9 nights. This trip was truly amazing. Hamanasi was probably one of the best resorts I have ever stayed in. The food, people, accommodations, activities and property are above and beyond. Arrival Day: Upon arrival, we received chocolate covered fruit, cookies and champagne Our GIANT Bed with a handwritten note Our beach In Belize there are several cultures (Spanish, Mayan and Garifuna) that play a huge role in the country. One night a group of Garifuna drummers came and played for us in the lounge. The Garifuna are descendants of West African, Central African, Carib and Arawak people. They live along the Caribbean Coast in Belize, G...
