Old Friends

Image
The last few days have made my heart full. I've seen two of my old friends who live in Europe and had dinner with a friend from CA. On Tuesday, my friend from my old travel days, Andreas, came by our apartment to say hello for lunch since he was in town for a meeting. My beautiful friend Katie also works for Google and was also in town for business! So we seized the opportunity to have a fondue dinner together in old town Zurich on Wednesday night at a place I had never tried, Le Dézale . Their fondue was the best I have ever had! And for those who are gluten free, they have GF bread and they brought me my own pot of cheese (so there was no contamination) free of charge! Without me even asking! Lastly, my friend Fabian and his girlfriend came from Munich to visit our last days in Zurich. I met Fabian when he was a foreign exchange high school student living with my aunt in NorCal in 2006. One weekend they came to visit me at college in San Francisco and t...

Meine erste Woche mit Grayson

Image
I've been to Zürich many times, however, this is the first time I've had to entertain a toddler in the city. The mornings were a little rough this week due to Grayson wanting to party for 4-5 hours in the middle of the night, but we are slowly adapting and getting a routine. Tuesday night he finally flipped to sleeping through the night again. My work schedule starts at 12, just in time for G's nap, then after he wakes up, I take him to a per hour daycare just down the road where D picks him up after work. It's nice because we get to have our mornings together, then Gray has time to play with other kids and become immersed in the culture. I will say that it has also been a challenge as this is Grayson's first time in daycare. It was been a bit rough on him, but he is slowly adjusting.  So here is a bunch of pictures of what Grayson and I have been up to this week (Side note: the Swiss people are EXTREMELY helpful when you have a small child. I cannot tell yo...

Willkommen Zurück Nach Zürich

Image
Well hello again Zürich. Nice to see you old friend! Only for 2 weeks and this time, but we do have a toddler in tow! Oh how things have changed: Example #1. An 11 hour flight is no longer my time to catch up on movies that I haven't seen in the past year, it is now, do anything and everything possible to keep the child quiet, preferably sleeping, so there isn't a viral video of us on the internet. He did pretty good on the flight. The first 2-3 hours were a little rough as it was 3 hours past his bedtime, he had benadryl, he was confined to a very very small area, wasn't allowed to walk around, and so much was going on around him. The kid was WIRED, BUT once I got him to sleep, he slept for 6 hours across us and was pretty good when he woke up. I will say that the highlight of the flight was when Grayson stood up on my lap and started loudly chanting "pee and poo" for all of our neighbors to hear. Duane and I laughed so hard we cried. (I might be really...
