Willkommen Zurück Nach Zürich

Image
Well hello again Zürich. Nice to see you old friend! Only for 2 weeks and this time, but we do have a toddler in tow! Oh how things have changed: Example #1. An 11 hour flight is no longer my time to catch up on movies that I haven't seen in the past year, it is now, do anything and everything possible to keep the child quiet, preferably sleeping, so there isn't a viral video of us on the internet. He did pretty good on the flight. The first 2-3 hours were a little rough as it was 3 hours past his bedtime, he had benadryl, he was confined to a very very small area, wasn't allowed to walk around, and so much was going on around him. The kid was WIRED, BUT once I got him to sleep, he slept for 6 hours across us and was pretty good when he woke up. I will say that the highlight of the flight was when Grayson stood up on my lap and started loudly chanting "pee and poo" for all of our neighbors to hear. Duane and I laughed so hard we cried. (I might be really...

Zürich: More than Finance and Fondue

This week was fairly quiet. One of the three siblings I used to babysit during high school and college was studying abroad in Florence, Italy this semester. It just so happened that her end of the semester coincided with us being in Zürich, so she stopped over for a visit on her way north. Megan and I explored the Üetliberg, we explored and had dessert at Google, ate some kebab and traditional Swiss/German food, explored coffee shops, went downtown, and relaxed. Hi friend! D getting deep with Yoda in the Google MK Spring is so pretty here mmmmmmmmmm kebab in old town Megan went on a chocolate buying spree, girl after my heart. My not so little anymore Megan :) Thursday was a national holiday so D joined me at a coffee shop to work Well, back to CA tomorrow! Till next time Europe. Did you know that Zürich ... is the wealthiest European city? hosts Europe’s largest outdoor techno party?  has a staggering 1224 fountains filled wi...

Zürich!

Sunday, we left our little black forest town to start our next portion of the trip, working (lame). The weather has been a little wild lately. Monday and Tuesday I sat safely inside working from my bay window watching the weather go between sun to snow to rain repeatedly throughout the day. Once everyone came home from their adventures (work or exploring), we had a great homemade dinner and then set out to explore the Google office. Tuesday was D and I's anniversary. For dinner, the whole crew set out to old town for a celebratory dinner and to introduce mom and John to some delicious Swiss cuisine, raclette. mmmmmm raclette 2 years! Thursday I spent a few hours in my favorite cafe, Cafe New Zealand, working while enjoying their amazing and music. Tomorrow we are off to the south to go explore some Swiss Alps!

No Coffee, No Workie!: A Week In Die Schweiz

This week was busy with work for both D and I, but we found time to have some adventures. I made it my goal to find some great coffee shops to work in during the week to change up my working environment outside of our apartment. Monday First day with this weird new schedule. Today I spent a few hours in Plüsch Café Bar working. It is very trendy cafe decorated with modern minimalist decor, but still feels cozy and comfortable, and they can make a darn good latte. Another plus, it is 2 very short blocks from our apartment. Later that night I met up with D and some of his coworkers for drinks downtown at The International Beer Bar. D, of course, was super excited to continue his quest for unusual foreign beers, and I was rather excited to find really good ciders. Welcome to my office The view from our window Tuesday I walked over to Café New Zealand on Langstrasse, near the HB in search of my next coffee house. I was not disappointed; fantastic traditional NZ coffe...
