Tahoe... again

I'm backkkkkk! My second home really cannot get enough of me. Duane and I drove up to the family cabin Friday afternoon to hang out before the rest of the fam came Saturday afternoon. Before everyone got there, we went for a great run along the Truckee River and relaxed on the beach.

Sunday was the best day. Duane's family bought a boat a while back and rented a buoy for half a season on the lake. Today was the first day his dad got to take it out on the lake. So right after breakfast, Duane, Carrie, Papa, Allan and I went out of the boat for some tubing.

We even thought it was a good idea to all get on the tube and ride it at the same time...



Around lunch time, Kellie and great uncle John met us a the doc and joined us for the afternoon. We went over to Chambers for a drink and then had a picnic lunch on the water.

Overall, it was a great weekend!

Fun fact: Lake Tahoe is the second deepest lake in North America at 1,645 ft (first is Crater Lake at 1,945 ft) and it is also the second largest lake by volume in the United States (behind the five Great Lakes).

Well hello again Zürich. Nice to see you old friend! Only for 2 weeks and this time, but we do have a toddler in tow! Oh how things have changed: Example #1. An 11 hour flight is no longer my time to catch up on movies that I haven't seen in the past year, it is now, do anything and everything possible to keep the child quiet, preferably sleeping, so there isn't a viral video of us on the internet. He did pretty good on the flight. The first 2-3 hours were a little rough as it was 3 hours past his bedtime, he had benadryl, he was confined to a very very small area, wasn't allowed to walk around, and so much was going on around him. The kid was WIRED, BUT once I got him to sleep, he slept for 6 hours across us and was pretty good when he woke up. My Second Homeland

Germany. Last summer, my cou sin Florian emailed me that he and his long time girlfriend, Martina, were engaged. So amazing! Another excuse to go to Europe! I love those. Through planning and limited by PTO, I decided we would rent a car and explore the Bavarian Alps South of Munich and make our way to the Black Forest for our first traditional German wedding. Yesterday, Mom, John, Duane and I la nded in the second best city in the world, Munich (Fact: San Francisco is number one). Hello old frie nd. It has been far too long. Struggling, but desperately trying to stay awake, we made our way to our respective hotels just in time for a much needed shower. To accomplish not passing out at 7pm and inevitably making my jet lag unbearable for the next 5 days, we met up with my good friend Fabian for dinner and drinks in the student neighborhood around the University. Grand Palace, Wat Arun and Wat Pho

The last two days have been extremely full with adventure, eating and exploring. Yesterday we (and what seemed like half of China) started off the very warm day at the Grand Palace. The palace was the official residence of the Kings of Thailand and is made up of numerous buildings, halls, pavilions set around open lawns and gardens. the most holy Emerald (made of jade) Buddha Next, we headed off to Wat Pho, which was just down the road (after grabbing a much needed fresh fruit juice, the stuff is everywhere and is amazing). This temple is famous for the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. Within each temple there are different shrines to Buddha for different things, business, love, mother nature, success, health, ect.
